chasj4 Ran Through Everyone on an 8-Game Win Streak

THE SEASON THAT WAS

Week 1 set the tone for what would become the most chaotic 17 weeks in Mile High Fantasy Club history. MtnHombre survived Tolbyb by 0.12 points — twelve cents — in a game that probably aged both managers by three years. Meanwhile, SoGirthy was already 49% below league average in Week 1, which, in retrospect, was less a warning sign and more a preview of an entire identity. The early weeks sorted themselves out quickly: pauljenkins looked like a juggernaut, Mach2785 was quietly stacking wins, and chasj4 was building something dangerous. Then Week 4 happened. tallpodd dropped a 196.24-point masterpiece — Stefon Diggs (36.0), Nico Collins (35.8), and Mark Andrews (27.5) all going nuclear on the same afternoon — and blew Mach2785 out by 90 points. Nobody on tallpodd's squad got the memo that this was supposed to be a season, not a single week. That score would stand as the season high, and the guy who posted it still missed the championship.

The middle of the season is where fortunes truly separated. brianjbarry1 had a Week 4 explosion of their own — 158.72 points, A.J. Brown going for 38.5 — and looked briefly like a contender before a Week 9 collapse to 64.74 points sent the vibes crashing back to earth. MtnHombre spent the middle of the season averaging just under 110 points, which is a very polite way of saying they were losing more than winning. jschrack had a Week 9 that deserves its own memorial: 66.62 points, with Taylor Heinicke at QB, Bijan Robinson putting up 5.9, and the whole lineup just quietly expiring together. And then there was SoGirthy — who posted a 47.22-point catastrophe in Week 9 that stands as the season low, a lineup headlined by Kenny Pickett (10.3), Dameon Pierce (0.0), and Gabe Davis (0.0), with the best score on the entire roster coming from Taysom Hill doing whatever Taysom Hill does. The league average was 125.30. SoGirthy finished at 78.40 per game. That gap doesn't close; it compounds.

chasj4's second half was a freight train. Christian McCaffrey and Derrick Henry were doing damage all season long, but chasj4 put the entire thing together when it mattered — an 8-game win streak to close out the year, a semifinal demolition of bmamich by 63.72 points (181.26 to 117.54), and then a championship performance where Kyren Williams (30.1), DJ Moore (30.9), and Breece Hall (27.6) combined to do what this team did all season: score too many points for the opponent to keep up. Mach2785 was a worthy final opponent — 12-5, a playoff win over Tolbyb, strong all year — but chasj4 won the championship week 143.22 to 130.70, and honestly, it wasn't that close to being close.

CHAMPION'S CROWN

chasj4 (Big RB Energy) won this league the right way: best record (13-4), second-highest scoring average (140.21 ppg), and a season-high of 188.78 that came in Week 4 when Christian McCaffrey alone put up 48.7 points. The team's name was Big RB Energy, and the team's entire identity was that McCaffrey, Derrick Henry, and Kyren Williams showed up every week whether you deserved it or not. An 8-game win streak to end the season isn't luck. That's a champion.

SEASON SUPERLATIVES

  • 🏆 Highest Single Week: tallpodd — 196.24 pts (Week 4) — a 57% above-average performance that included three players over 27 points and somehow still didn't define his season
  • 💀 Lowest Single Week: SoGirthy — 47.22 pts (Week 9) — five players scored 2.0 points or fewer, and the team's leading scorer was Taysom Hill at 22.62
  • 🔥 Closest Game: MtnHombre def. Tolbyb — 0.12 pt margin (Week 1) — a game decided by less than the margin of a single extra point
  • 💥 Biggest Blowout: chasj4 def. tallpodd — 100.22 pts (Week 15) — tallpodd scored 64.26 (season low for that team); chasj4 scored 164.48; a 91-point swing from the same team's Week 4 season-high should require a medical explanation
  • 📈 Best Record: chasj4 — 13-4
  • 📉 Worst Record: SoGirthy — 1-15 — one win. One. The only win came in Week 12 over brianjbarry1 by 5.30 points, and it remains the most important thing that happened all season to exactly one team

SEE YOU NEXT SEASON

The 2023 season is done. chasj4 has the trophy. SoGirthy has the receipts. Everyone else has five months to convince themselves they're going to draft better this time. The real question isn't whether you're coming back — it's whether you're going to let someone else set the narrative, or whether you're going to own it. If your league ran a season this wild and nobody documented it properly, that's a crime — run your recap at FF Commentator and make sure every bad start, every blowout, and every 0.12-point heartbreak is on the record where it belongs.
