Corah Goes 6-0 While Everyone Else Goes 86.72.
WEEK IN REVIEW
Let's get the obvious out of the way: Corah is 6-0, averaging 163.60 points per game, and her worst week — 117.26 in Week 6 — was still enough to win by 30 points. The prediction from last week about a "high-stakes mismatch" between Corah and Mark playing a household championship? Yeah, that aged about as well as a Texans D/ST start. Corah's season low is basically everyone else's ceiling, and at this point the only real drama in her bracket is whether Kenneth Walker III (27.90 this week) or Jaxon Smith-Njigba (25.40, and yes, she absolutely mentioned he's from Ohio State) will carry her to 200 first. She left 73.30 bench points on the field and still won by 30. The dominance is genuinely disrespectful.
Meanwhile, the three-way battle for second place got a significant shakeup. Mark locked in his second straight win at 121.38 points, moving to 4-2 with Malik Nabers going off for 28.50 and Chuba Hubbard quietly dropping 19.10. That's not the 151-point fireworks show from Week 5, but it was clean, efficient, and good enough to absolutely embarrass Emma by 39 points. Gavin fell to 3-3 on a brutal 86.72-point effort — his second straight loss and second straight week well below league average — while Lauren crashed back to earth at 95.08, dropping to 2-4 and answering last week's question about whether 192.92 was a trend or an outlier. It was an outlier, Lauren. It was an outlier.
The real chaos came from James, who posted a genuinely functional 108.26 points — his season high — to beat Lauren by 13. James Cook (24.30), Colston Loveland (18.50), and DeVonta Smith (20.50) all showed up, which means the Loveland household standings are now tied at 2-4. Relationship therapists in the area should advertise. Week 7 sets up more carnage: Emma needs a win desperately at 1-5, Gavin needs to stop the bleeding at 3-3 before the playoff window slams shut, and Lauren and James are playing a season-defining game every single week now just to stay relevant.
MATCHUP RECAPS
Corah-ner Back (Corah) def. Gavin's Great Team (Gavin), 117.26–86.72
Corah notches win number six in what is becoming the most boring dominant season in this league's history — and "boring" is doing a lot of heavy lifting because 117.26 is her season low and it still wasn't close. Kenneth Walker III led the charge at 27.90 and JSN added 25.40 (Corah has informed us he went to Ohio State, in case you forgot), while the Texans D/ST put up a charming -2.00 points and Bijan Robinson and Derrick Henry combined for a demoralizing 12.30. She left 73.30 points on the bench and still won by 30. For Gavin, this was a 31% below-league-average disaster at 86.72 — Chase Brown (0.00), Tyler Warren (0.00 — and yes, he is listed OUT), and Tee Higgins (0.00) combined to score the same amount as a forfeit. Gavin is now 3-3 on a two-game losing streak after entering Week 5 with genuine playoff momentum, and the Great Team name is doing some serious aspirational work right now.
Mark's Magnificent Team (Mark) def. emma's Excellent Team (Emma), 121.38–82.00
The prediction that Mark needed a "perfect storm" to beat Corah was moot because they weren't matched up — but Mark still delivered a workmanlike 121.38 to handle Emma and move to 4-2. Malik Nabers (28.50) and Chuba Hubbard (19.10) did the heavy lifting, George Kittle added 17.90, and somehow Brandon Aubrey — one of the most reliable kickers in football — scraped together 1.00 point. One. Mark left only 26.10 bench points, which in this league makes him basically a lineup genius. Emma, meanwhile, posted 82.00 points — her second-lowest score of the season — on a week where Justin Jefferson (0.00), Breece Hall (0.00, listed OUT), and Rashee Rice (0.00, also listed OUT) collectively produced nothing. Three zeros in a starting lineup is a math problem and a roster management problem simultaneously. Emma falls to 1-5 on a four-game losing streak, and the playoff math is no longer "ugly" — it's a crime scene.
James's Scary Team (James) def. Lauren's Loud Team (Lauren), 108.26–95.08
Nobody had "James wins the Loveland household matchup the week after Lauren dropped 192.92" on their bingo card, but here we are. James posted his season high of 108.26 — which, to be fair, is still only 6.48 points above his previous season high of 108.26, because that IS his previous season high, meaning he has never once exceeded it. James Cook (24.30), Colston Loveland (18.50 — yes, same last name, yes it's funny), and DeVonta Smith (20.50) all contributed, and David Montgomery is listed OUT but the bench only had 7.00 points to spare regardless, so the damage was contained. Lauren crashed to 95.08 — 24% below league average — after last week's 192.92 explosion confirmed exactly what we feared: that was a one-week hallucination. Puka Nacua managed 14.00, Kyren Williams put up 9.70, and Matthew Stafford's 16.88 wasn't enough to replicate lightning in a bottle. Both teams are now 2-4, the household is tied, and one of them is going to have a very uncomfortable dinner table by Week 10.
POWER RANKINGS
-
Corah-ner Back (Corah, 6-0) — Undefeated, averaging 163.60, won with her worst score of the season. The league is basically playing for second.
-
Mark's Magnificent Team (Mark, 4-2) — Two straight wins, Nabers and Kittle clicking, and only 26.10 bench points wasted. Quietly the most complete roster not named Corah.
-
Gavin's Great Team (Gavin, 3-3) — Two straight losses and 86.72 points this week. The "Great Team" label is on thin ice; the playoff window is cracking.
-
Lauren's Loud Team (Lauren, 2-4) — Last week's 192.92 was a mirage. Back to 2-4 and 95 points this week. The variance is real; so is the losing record.
-
James's Scary Team (James, 2-4) — Season-high 108.26 earns a win and ties the household standings. Still 2-4 with a season average of 97.51, so "scary" remains aspirational.
-
emma's Excellent Team (Emma, 1-5) — Three zeros in the starting lineup, 1-5 record, four-game losing streak. The "Excellent" in the team name is working overtime.
LOOKING AHEAD
- ›
🏆 Marquee Matchup: Keep an eye on how Gavin and Lauren line up next week — two teams at playoff desperation who both just posted clunkers need a bounce-back, and whoever loses is in serious trouble. A third straight loss for either is nearly unrecoverable.
- ›
🔥 Streak Watch: Corah's six-game winning streak is the only undefeated record left in this league. The question isn't if she loses — it's whether anyone can actually make her lose before the playoffs, or if this newsletter just becomes a Corah fan blog for the rest of the season.
- ›
🚨 Must-Win: Emma at 1-5 is running out of runway. A fifth straight loss pushes the playoff math from "difficult" to "requires a calculator and a therapist." Something has to change on that roster, starting with the three zeroes she started this week.
- ›
⚔️ Revenge Game: Gavin needs to bounce back after back-to-back losses torpedoed what was a 3-1 stretch. At 3-3, he's not eliminated — but another week at 86 points and the "Great Team" becomes a historical artifact.
- ›
📊 League Trend: The bench mismanagement epidemic continues. Corah left 73.30 on the bench, Lauren's team left 55.60, Gavin's team left 62.70 — and Emma left 42.60 while starting three players who scored zero combined. At some point, someone in this league is going to start actually setting their lineup and it will feel like cheating. That person is Corah. She's already doing it. That's why she's 6-0.
