Week 1 of Season 9 is in the books, and this friend group wasted absolutely zero time getting nasty. dawsonballs came out of the gates swinging a sledgehammer, posting a league-high 184.50 points — 29% above the league average of 143.13 — and turning TK23 into a cautionary tale with a 60-point blowout. To put that in perspective, TK23's entire defense, kicker, and three of his five wide receivers combined for less than Derrick Henry scored by himself (35.30 pts). That's not a fantasy loss. That's a crime scene. Meanwhile, Asstronaut quietly went to work in the other blowout of the week, handing WhiskeyWayne575 a 52.76-point beatdown behind a Justin Jefferson–David Montgomery–Trey McBride core that looked uncomfortably ready for prime time.
On the other end of the drama spectrum, PhillytheThrill survived ShrimpHulk a2ron1519 by a razor-thin 1.14 points in the week's only nail-biter — the closest game of the young season. a2ron1519 had 138.52 points, a score that would have beaten six other teams this week, and still walked away with an L. Dallas Goedert put up 23.70 and Javonte Williams added 24.20 and it still wasn't enough. The universe is a cold place. Elsewhere, the early-season form chart has some real questions to answer: Wingwee managed just 109.16 — 24% below the league average — with Ja'Marr Chase putting up a catastrophic 3.20 points and Jaylen Waddle contributing a ghost-like 1.20. That's two first-round value players combining for 4.40 points. In a 9-year-old league full of people who know each other's tendencies, that kind of start draws blood.
Week 2 is where we find out who was for real and who just rode opening week chaos. Somebody in this league is about to go 0-2, and given that there are no punishments and the only prize is bragging rights, the psychological damage will have to be self-inflicted. Eight seasons of history means everyone in this league knows exactly how to twist the knife. Get your rosters right.

Derrick Henry (35.30), Bijan Robinson (29.30), Zay Flowers (26.00), and Trevor Lawrence (26.10) all showed up like they had something to prove, giving dawsonballs the kind of balanced, top-to-bottom performance that makes opponents feel like they never had a chance. TK23's best player was D'Andre Swift at 32.40, which is legitimately impressive and also completely irrelevant because Kyle Pitts put up 0.00 points and Drake London added 5.50 like he was trying to blend in with the furniture. TK23 sat on 50.50 bench points — the most unused production in the league this week — meaning the lineup decisions hurt almost as much as the opponent. Finishing 60 points below dawsonballs puts TK23 in a hole early, and with the roster management questions already surfacing, Week 2 is a must-stabilize situation.
Team 6 (Asstronaut) def. Lil Whiskies (WhiskeyWayne575), 168.36–115.60
💥 BLOWOUT — 52.76 pt margin
Asstronaut rolled into Week 1 looking like a team that drafted with a plan and executed it without breaking a sweat. Justin Jefferson (31.20), David Montgomery (28.90), Jaxon Smith-Njigba (26.20), and Trey McBride (24.50) formed a core that is, frankly, alarming to see at full strength this early in the season. WhiskeyWayne575's bright spot was Chris Olave going off for 28.20 points, which almost feels cruel given how little help he got — Davante Adams sleepwalked to 5.60, Brandon Aubrey kicked for 1.00 point, and the Rams defense donated 2.00 points to the cause. The real gut-punch: WhiskeyWayne had 48.06 points sitting unused on the bench, the second-most in the league. Lil Whiskies isn't a bad team — they're a 0-1 team that started a kicker who scored one point. Fix the lineup, fix the season. Maybe.
SteelCityCholos (GRB123) def. Team 4 (jules1977), 163.42–147.76
Margin: 15.66 pts
GRB123 and the SteelCityCholos got the job done behind an absolutely unhinged performance from Christian Watson (32.70 pts), Jalen Hurts (24.72), and Jonathan Taylor (24.10) doing what Jonathan Taylor does when he remembers he's Jonathan Taylor. The Pittsburgh Steelers defense chipping in 20.00 points was the kind of bonus that feels like cheating. Jules1977 is the hard-luck story of Week 1 — 147.76 points is the highest score of any losing team this week, and josh Allen (34.66) plus Jahmyr Gibbs (32.60) in the same lineup should be sending anyone home with a W. It didn't. jules1977 scored more than three of the five winning teams this week and still sits at 0-1, which is the exact kind of scheduling injustice this league format was designed to produce and also to absolutely wreck your mental health. GRB123 gets the W and the momentum; jules1977 gets the receipts and the resentment.
Green Bowl Packers (ColeOrtiz) def. Team 7 (Wingwee), 139.84–109.16
Margin: 30.68 pts
ColeOrtiz took care of business against the week's lowest scorer, and the real star of the Green Bowl Packers' lineup was Amon-Ra St. Brown going absolutely feral for 28.70 points. DJ Moore added 21.00, Jared Goff did Jared Goff things (15.44), and the Jacksonville Jaguars defense contributed 15.00 points in what might be the most unpredictable box score entry of Week 1. Meanwhile, Wingwee's situation is worth a genuine moment of silence: Caleb Williams scored 37.26 points — the highest QB score of any team in the league this week — and it meant nothing because the supporting cast completely collapsed around him. Ja'Marr Chase finished with 3.20 points, Jaylen Waddle with 1.20, and Colston Loveland with 0.00. Wingwee's three flex/WR slots combined for 4.40 points total. That's not a bad week. That's a malfunction. The 30.16 points left on the bench suggests there were better options — finding them is now a matter of survival.

🔥 NAIL-BITER — 1.14 pt margin
This was the game of the week in the most painful way possible for a2ron1519. PhillytheThrill won by 1.14 points. One. Point. Fourteen. a2ron1519 got 23.70 from Dallas Goedert, 24.20 from Javonte Williams, and 19.20 from Ladd McConkey and still came up short — largely because Harrison Mevis kicked for 1.00 point and the Eagles defense, a unit that plays in Philadelphia, scored 4.00 points in a Philadelphia Eagles game. PhillytheThrill's margin of victory came almost entirely from Ashton Jeanty going off for 32.70 points as a rookie, which is either a sign of things to come or the cruelest possible way to lose a Week 1 matchup. Philly also left 42.60 points on the bench — the most among winning teams — meaning this win was more narrow than it ever needed to be. a2ron1519 scored 138.52 and lost. The ShrimpHulk will need to bench those feelings and focus on Week 2.
