Spencer Drops 178.52 and Humiliates Spru by 67 Points
WEEK IN REVIEW
Week 1 of the 2026 SG Fantasy Football League is in the books, and Scott's nephew Spencer — the baby of the group, the bird-eater, the guy who apparently might be getting a ring soon — came out of the gate like he has absolutely nothing to prove and everything to destroy. The Trash Man hung 178.52 points on Spru's Crew, which was 49% above the league average of 119.53, and the 67.46-point margin was the single biggest blowout of the week. Spru, who apparently can't keep his feet behind the line on a golf course, also couldn't keep his roster from getting carpet-bombed. The cherry on top? Spru left only 4.00 points on his bench. He didn't have more. He played his guys. He just got annihilated anyway.
The week's biggest upset came out of the Conti family household, where the older, flight-averse Conti brother Doug (The Seaward) knocked off four-time champion Archer (Dangerous Nights Crew), 124.60–103.76. A force to be reckoned with every year, Archer opened his 2026 campaign with a loss — and with Derrick Henry dropping 38.30 points for him, you have to wonder what this looks like when Henry doesn't show up. Meanwhile, new arrival Matt "double buckets" — who apparently won't make a single decision without AI approval — put up 151.72 behind a Jahmyr Gibbs explosion (36.60 pts) and David Montgomery going off for 28.90, sending Keath's Dozzy Pig home with a Week 1 L. Kyle (The Hodge), Keath's own handler, also lost to Rich (JetSweep) in the closest game of the week — a 12.06-point nailbiter that Rich barely survived despite fielding a lineup that included CeeDee Lamb and Terry McLaurin combining for a fat 0.00 points.
Week 2 is coming, the standings are unsettled, and every 0-1 team is already in "must not fall to 0-2" territory. Keath is going to need mustard on something because this week left a sour taste. Vic is licking wounds after going 35% below league average. And Spencer is somewhere out there, eating like a bird and somehow scoring like a monster.
MATCHUP RECAPS
The Trash Man (Spencer) def. Spru's Crew (Spru), 178.52–111.06
This wasn't a fantasy football game — it was a war crime. Spencer's Trash Man went 49% above the league average with a balanced assault that saw Chris Olave drop 31.20, Zay Flowers add 29.00, Amon-Ra St. Brown chip in 28.70, and Dalton Kincaid — a tight end — put up 21.00. Jalen Hurts wasn't even the story at 17.62. Spru's best weapon was Caleb Williams at 41.26, but the rest of the lineup collapsed around him, and with only 4.00 points left on the bench, there was no escape hatch. The 67.46-point margin is the largest of the young season. Spencer is 1-0, and Spru is already stepping over the line in more ways than one.
Fonze Bot 9000 (Matt, "double buckets") def. Dozzy Pig (Keath), 151.72–135.76
The new guy walked in, consulted his AI overlords, and immediately punched Keath in the mustard jar. Matt's 151.72 was 27% above league average, powered by Jahmyr Gibbs (36.60), David Montgomery (28.90), and Nico Collins (21.20) — three guys who had no business combining for 86.70 points in a week where Keath's Josh Allen scored 42.66 and still wasn't enough. The real tragedy for Keath is that Josh Allen alone nearly outscored entire lineups in this league, and he still lost by 15.96 points. Kyle (Keath's handler) was supposed to manage this situation. Kyle also lost. The handler needs a handler.
The Seaward (Doug) def. Dangerous Nights Crew (Archer), 124.60–103.76
Four-time champion Archer opened the season with an L, and the man who is afraid to fly just landed on him. Doug's 124.60 was above league average, paced by Trevor Lawrence's 34.10 and Breece Hall's 22.80, with Parker Washington sneaking in a 19.30. Archer, meanwhile, had Derrick Henry go absolutely nuclear for 38.30 points — and still lost because Isaiah Likely, Marvin Harrison, and Kenneth Walker (wait, that's Doug's guy) all posted zeroes. Archer's 103.76 was below league average in a week where he needed more than one guy to show up. The four-time champ has been in this spot before, but he can't afford to let the beer take longer than his season start.
MyNabersTouchedMyPenix (Scott) def. She Bledsoe Im Good (Vic), 121.50–78.12
Scott — the less winning of the Gutekunst brothers, the man with seven kids who still isn't sure how it keeps happening — opened the year by absolutely dunking on his brother Vic. Jalen Coker dropped 36.80 points like he was a first-round pick, Bijan Robinson added 31.30, and Scott's 121.50 was enough to beat Vic by 43.38 points. Vic's 78.12 was 35% below league average — and he left 59.70 points on his bench, the most in the entire league. Jayden Daniels, Ja'Marr Chase, and Drake London combined for 11.02 points in the starting lineup while Vic's bench was apparently running a better offense. The Gutekunst family bragging rights go to Scott, Week 1. Vic handles altitude poorly and apparently Week 1 as well.
JetSweep (Rich) def. The Hodge (Kyle), 101.16–89.10
Grandma's favorite squeaked this one out by 12.06 points — the closest game of the week — despite starting CeeDee Lamb (0.00) and Terry McLaurin (0.00) in his WR spots. Lamar Jackson (29.96) and the Pittsburgh Steelers defense (22.00) essentially carried Rich over the finish line while his wide receivers were busy doing absolutely nothing. Kyle, meanwhile, had Jaxon Smith-Njigba go for 29.20 and Bucky Irving for 20.30 — and still lost because Dak Prescott (0.00), George Pickens (0.00), and Colston Loveland (0.00) left three dead bodies in the starting lineup. Kyle left 48.40 points on his bench. For a guy with the lowest handicap in the group, his lineup management is currently bogey golf.
POWER RANKINGS
- The Trash Man (Spencer, 1-0) — Scored 178.52, best in the league, six contributors over 17 pts. This is an early statement from the nephew.
- Fonze Bot 9000 (Matt "double buckets", 1-0) — 151.72 in Week 1 with three guys over 21 points. The AI is clearly doing the work.
- Dozzy Pig (Keath, 0-1) — Josh Allen dropped 42.66 and they still lost. Talent is there; roster luck is not yet.
- The Seaward (Doug, 1-0) — Upset the four-time champ. Trevor Lawrence and Breece Hall are a dangerous core for a man afraid of heights.
- MyNabersTouchedMyPenix (Scott, 1-0) — Jalen Coker's 36.80 saved this lineup. But 50.42 pts left on the bench is a ticking clock.
- JetSweep (Rich, 1-0) — Wins count the same whether you start two zero-point WRs or not. Lamar Jackson is a cheat code. Fix the depth.
- Dangerous Nights Crew (Archer, 0-1) — Derrick Henry went off for 38.30 and they lost. Schedule luck was brutal. Don't panic yet — it's Archer.
- Spru's Crew (Spru, 0-1) — Got obliterated by 67 points and had only 4.00 left on bench. No moral victories here.
- The Hodge (Kyle, 0-1) — 48.40 pts left on the bench and three zeroes in the starting lineup. Lowest handicap, worst lineup decisions.
- She Bledsoe Im Good (Vic, 0-1) — 78.12 points and 59.70 left on the bench. The better Gutekunst brother needs to actually play his better roster.
LOOKING AHEAD
- ›🏆 Marquee Matchup: Keep an eye on any 1-0 vs. 1-0 matchup — Spencer and Matt are both loaded and a loss would crack that squeaky-clean record fast.
- ›🔥 Streak Watch: Spencer (W1) enters Week 2 as the hottest team in the league at 178.52 points. If he wins again, the league officially has a problem.
- ›⚠️ Must-Win: Vic (0-1, 78.12 pts) cannot afford to go 0-2. The better Gutekunst brother has 59.70 reasons sitting on his bench to set his lineup correctly this week.
- ›🎯 Revenge Game: Archer (0-1) is a four-time champion who just lost to Doug. History says you do not want to be Archer's Week 2 opponent. Somebody's getting Henry'd.
- ›📉 League Trend: Three teams started zero-scoring starters in Week 1 — Kyle had three zeroes, Scott had four, Archer had two. The waiver wire should be busy. Someone is going to fix their lineup. Someone isn't.
